Welcome to the new online home of Poets and Writers at Walnut Beach Cafe/Gallery! We gather for open readings of poetry, prose and other story forms on the last Tuesday of every month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. All creative souls in the Greater New Haven area are welcome to join us and share their work in a friendly and open environment, and all members of this group are welcome to share their poems, short prose and other short forms on this blog.
We are excited to be here and we hope our enthusiasm will draw a massive following. Until next time, write on!

ReplyDeleteDSM Disorder
ReplyDeleteThe manual said it
Wasn’t love
It was a Behavioral
Disorder
Treated by analysis
Drugs
Behavioral modification
The shrink opted for the latter
And gave me a rubber band.
A $125 rubber band
To wear around my wrist
Every time I thought of you
I had to snap the elastic
The sting would remind me
To stop
Like shocking the monkey,
I was Pavlov’s bitch
As if you hadn’t
hurt me enough
Like the burning rubber,
a self-inflicted pain
My elastic bracelet
lasted a week
You and
Your memory,
much longer
-- Mary Ellen Elias
Okay, I posted a poem. I hope I did it in the write spot. Wasn't sure. Thanks, this is great.

Mary Ellen and Jenn--thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI think if poems are posted as their own separate blog entry, it will make it easier for people to find, enjoy and comment.
Enjoyed reading both of your poems! Keep 'em coming!
Right. But i couldn't see where to post as separate entry, BUT on this site?? Can u tell i'm clueless??!
